Prasanta Kumar Panda

Secretary

I take the pleasure to bring out the Annual Report for the year 2015 – 16. This Report brings out our aims and our programs with our achievements and challenges for the future. In this financial year our achievements were reasonably well and at the same time, to be very honest, could have been better.

Dakshin Budhakhali Improvement Society is now in twenty years of existence. Our mission in West Bengal is to help the poor access financial help in their struggle for existence.

We stepped into Micro Finance activities in Kolkata in 2005 and presently have spread into two more districts in South and North 24 Parganas. Our vision is to fulfill the dreams of the poor and the under privileged engaged in various activities. Our focus is on those people who are unable to access income generating activities, healthcare, education and basic amenities which will provide them an improved quality of life. Women empowerment is our area of concern. Our programs are tailored for fulfilling their ambitions with our financial assistance. In the last ten years we have achieved a great success in helping the poor women in the three districts of West Bengal not only by providing financial assistance at the right time but also guiding them in consonance with the market demand. We keep on re orienting our various programs to add value to the ultimate beneficiaries. In the process DBIS is blessed with dedicated volunteers and social workers indoctrinated by our work ethics.

Dakshin Budhakhali Improvement Society in the last ten years of its existence have successfully made a paradigm shift in its approaches, methodologies, size and outreach to suit both the poor and the needy beneficiaries. At present DBIS can boast of 2776 SHGs consisting of 27760 nos of women members of different age groups, castes, creeds and communities. With out flow of Rs. 3460.98 lacs, we are one of the top MFIs in the Kolkata district. In addition to a wide range of SHGs support in the field of Micro Finance, we are also focused on social activities like education, vocational training, women entrepreneurship, health and legal aid to the poor women and children.

We believe our achievements could have been better with more bank assistance, which are a big challenge, in increasing our portfolio to a satisfactory level.

Before concluding, I would like to convey my heartiest thanks to all our friends and well wishers and people connected in various ways for the progress of our society.
